The tri-coloured national Flag of the Netherlands also referred to as Holland, had its original colours of orange-white-blue changed to red-white-blue in the 17th century. The flag with its new colours got the royal approval in 1937. A Monarchy since 1815, the Netherlands enjoy a democratic parliament, operating since 1848 and was ranked the fourth most democratic country in the world in 2008. The official language of the Netherland is Dutch. A kind of
German dialect is spoken in some areas near the German border.

The Netherlands are amongst many other wonderful things, well known for their famous painters like Vincent van Gogh, their musical talents as well as for their windmills, wooden clogs and not to forget their beautiful tulips.
