The people who we call the Greeks, and live in a country we call Greece, actually call themselves Hellenes and live in a country called Hellas

The Hellenistic period during the time of Alexander the Great saw a period of strong Greek cultural influence in Europe and Asia. It resulted in the Greek Classical Era and the emergence of the Roman Empire with new settlements in Greek Cities and kingdoms in Africa and Asia
Macedonia
According to historians, an ancient Greek tribe with its roots from the Hellenistic period established the kingdom of Macedon. Macedonians originally spoke a sort of Greek dialect.

In 1992 after Macedonia became independent, it retained the coat of arms from 1946 which represent the sun of freedom rising above Macedonia. The Coat is bounded with wheat and poppy plant laterally, and on the basis with a Macedonian national motive.
