History Talk - Chile Flag
The national Flag of Chile also called "Lone Star" dates back to 1817 and is flown on the 9th of June in honour of the 77 soldiers who perished during the "Arauco War" for independence in 1882. Two national animals, the Condor, a mountain bird and Huemul, a white tail deer are placed around the lone star shield of the coat of arms.
Chilean Spanish and English are the main language spoken in Chile, as well as various indigenous languages and in some areas even German as a second language.
