History Talk - Cameroon Flag
The Republic of Cameroon adopted its current national Flag with the "star of unity" and the traditional Pan-African colours in 1975, than still the United Republic of Cameroon. The flag colour red represents unity, while yellow stands for the sun und green for the forests in south Cameroon.
Cameroon, like so many African nations has had a very colourful past with British, French and even German (German Kamerun 1884-1916) influence during its colonial time. It has a very diverse population with over 200 different ethnic groups. Cameroon is well known for its native music and successful football team.
